Professional Pattern Cutting Foundations: This face-to-face session is held at Edmonton Green Library. "Master the essential architecture of the female form by drafting bespoke skirt blocks and adapting your block into a fashion skirt using the industry standard" Learn the foundations of pattern-making through a practical, step-by-step approach designed for complete beginners. Over this 6-week course, you’ll build the core skills needed to draft, develop, and understand patterns, setting you up for further study or entry into the fashion industry. Workshop Structure: Foundation Module 1: Introduction to Professional Pattern Cutting Understanding pattern-making tools, measurements, and industry terminology. Students learn: pattern-cutting tools measurements industry terminology understanding blocks Studio Activity: Taking body measurements + drafting setup Module 2: Drafting a Skirt Block and adapting it to a fashion skirt. Creating a professional garment block from measurements. Students learn: professional drafting methods balance and proportions Studio Activity: Drafting a full-scale skirt block Drafting + first toile fitting. Adapting the block. Intermediate Studio Development Students learn: skirt foundations movement and fit Module 3: Final Development & Critique How to critique patterns for fit and design changes.
